Why Natural Dyeing?
At Inseparable, you won't find any chemical magic happening here. We're all about natural dyeing, using the good stuff – plants, flowers, and fruits. Our low impact dyes keep our threads looking gorgeous while being gentle on the environment and safe for your health, your skin.
In mass production, clothing manufacturers use synthetics fabrics such as polyester, acrylic and even our famous recycled polyester to make our clothes. Those synthetic fabrics can only be dyed with synthetic dyes which are made with toxic chemicals. From formaldehyde to azo dyes, these nasties can cause skin irritation, rashes, and allergies. No thanks, right?
So, we decided to do it like in the old days, just like the Kings & Queens (because we are worth it)! We use plants, flowers & fruits (upcycled ones preferably!) to dye natural fabrics such as cotton, corduroy, linen & silk. Those natural ingredients don’t only achieve beautiful & vibrant colours but they also give your clothes all of their amazing properties – yes wearing turmeric dyed clothes makes your skin so soft!
And when we say we are all about slow fashion it is true: Natural dyeing is a slow process – it can take up to three days to dye one piece of fabric!
Despite these challenges, natural dyeing is still an important solution for the fashion industry to consider. By reducing the use of harmful chemicals and supporting local communities, natural dyeing can help create a more sustainable future for fashion. Brands that incorporate natural dyeing into their production processes can differentiate themselves from competitors and appeal to customers who are increasingly concerned about sustainability.
Moreover, natural dyeing is not only a solution for the fashion industry, but it can also inspire other industries to adopt more sustainable practices. The benefits of natural dyeing can be applied to other fields, such as home textiles, art, and even food. For example, natural dyes can be used to color fabrics, yarns, and fibers for knitting and weaving, or to dye paper for stationery and art.
